Four years later, RG is every bit as good as we remembered, from the professional, efficient and friendly service, to the club-by and very warm ambience, and finally to the food itself. I noted the prices on the menu hadn't increased as much as other places we've been to lately; it's our experience that RG's quality, variety and selection of ingredients and accompaniments set it apart from upscale family restaurants and local Wine Country competitors who tout "locally sourced" and "farm to table" but often don't deliver in terms of consistency and memorable flavor combinations. Take RG's French Dip, for example. This is shaved USDA Prime Rib, served medium rare, served with Au Jus and Horseradish. I've sadly paid about the same amount, or even more, for meat of questionable origin. Not RG's version - it's Prime Rib in a sandwich, and the thinly cut meat is just outrageously melt-in-the-mouth. It comes with a side - RG features a large quantity of sides - and this time I opted simply for the fries. They're big on sauces here, too. The fries came with both a ketchup (homemade? Tasted different - and good) and a spicier sauce like a hot Thousand Island. My wife's Grilled Chicken Salad, which often feels like a diet place at most of the restaurants we've dined at, is quite the opposite here - served with honey-lime vinaigrette and peanut sauce, the smoky flavor of the chicken (thanks to the rotisserie) both is enhanced by and enhances the other ingredients. We skipped to cornbread this time for the creamed corn, and again were not let down. If someone asks me for my favorite North Bay restaurant where I don't need an expense account to pay for our meals, RG's got to be on the 1-3 list. For us, there's nothing like it for the total experience.

My aunt has been going here for years, so we visited for dinner based on her recommendation and sat at the bar which has a convivial vibe. Crowd inside was mostly older yuppies but it was chill. Ordered the ribs, which I never order at restaurants and was surprised at how good they were and not at all oversauced. Being that we were in Rutherford, the wine list was extensive and had many great choices.

Rutherford Grill is solid and has been for over 2 decades. This is one place that I enjoy their ribs and steaks. I know that I am dating myself but the Hawaiian Rib Eye is the shit, if I do say so myself. Of course with it being in the wine county, Rutherford to be exact; the wine served is unpretentious with a full spectrum of offerings. If you're looking for meat and potatoes, this is it. If you're looking for a nice glass of wine and/ or drinks, this is it. If you're looking for a good ass meal, this is definitely it. Chow chow!

Such a great spot for lunch and in between tastings. We were able to be seated right away and our waitress was super friendly. We ordered the spinach artichoke dip and bread platter, both that were good. The bread platter had a texas toast and also a jalapeño cornbread option. The dip was good as well and the chips were crispy. The salsa tasted more store bought than homemade, but overall still good. The burger and fries were really hit the spot for a good burger. The patty was well cooked for my liking and not dry. The veggies also tasted fresh and added to the flavor of the bun.

On a quiet night in Napa Valley, two dreary travelers sought to have a meal worthy of life's trials and tribulations. The somellier at the winery we were getting progressively drunk at recommended Rutherford Grill for a no-frills high-quality dinner. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and effortlessly goes with the natural beauty of the scenery surrounding the rolling Hills and vineyards in this area. This is a large restaurant with very good ambience, absolutely buzzing with patrons. We were hungry, so opted to sit at the bar, our bartender was friendly and kept the wine flowing. We knew we were in for a treat as soon as we set foot in the establishment. To begin, we ordered the stuffed jalapeños. Delicious, and very spicy, so proceed at your own risk. We had heard high praise for the French dip sandwich, and this did not disappoint. I oddly did like the simple flavors of this dish that were enhanced by the Au jus served on the side. Beef was moist, salty, and the bread was pillowy and just beautiful. The Napa cabbage salad was to die for. Everything from the textures to the amount of chicken to the little bits and pieces in the salad were an absolute joy. To finish, we ordered the Oreo dessert. Texture heaven. Crisp biscuit, warm chocolate sauce, ice cream. This was a meal to remember. If you are in Napa Valley, just come here. You will not be disappointed.

Superb and satisfying! After an afternoon of wine tasting, this is the spot you wanna make a reservation at for a late lunch/dinner. Rutherford Grill gets packed so be sure to make reservations ahead of time. We were sat at a two person booth in the bar area, so cozy. Our waitress was so attentive and kind! We shared a Caesar salad to start with and I ordered the Ruby Red Trout. Everything was DELICIOUS and seasoned to perfection. This will be our go-to spot for lunch whenever we're in the area!

I grew up in the Bay Area, and dining at Los Altos Grill (formerly Bandera) was a family staple! I haven't lived there in quite some time, but think back often to the grilled artichokes, the skillet cornbread, and the prime rib French Dip sandwich. When we found ourselves in Napa last week, a stop at Rutherford Grill -- another Hillstone Restaurant -- was a must. We made a reservation in advance, and were greeted/seated promptly. The vibe was very similar to Los Altos Grill: dim lighting, big bar in the center of the restaurant, large leather booths, etc. The food was, as expected, delicious. The cornbread is no longer served in a skillet, and instead is 5-6 small cubes of cornbread in a bowl. The prime rib French Dip was just as I remember: tender, savory, and elevated with that creamy horseradish! If I'm being picky -- and I feel like patrons should be, especially at establishments that are picky with their guests (we see you, Hillstone "Attire Standards and Dining Guidelines" lol) -- our server was quiet and had a very cold demeanor. I'm not sure if this was just her personality or a directive from management to their staff in how to interact with guests. Professionalism is one thing, but the lack of any kind of emotion was off-putting and inhospitable. The other miss was that I ordered a glass of Merlot, and it never arrived to our table. The appetizer arrived... then our dinner arrived... at which point I realized the wine had likely been forgotten. I didn't want to slam a glass of wine after we had already started eating our entrees, so I didn't say anything... but I noticed and was disappointed. Overall, the food was good and the experience scratched the itch of "Memory Lane" for me. But Napa wasn't really the vibe for us, and we likely won't seek out another Hillstone Restaurant elsewhere. I guess I prefer a different flavor of hospitality, and that's ok.
